Muka has sand on her face, her mom next to her, and an entire ocean making unfamiliar noises nearby. At just 7 weeks old, this German Shorthaired Pointer puppy is experiencing her first ocean trip in South Korea, and there is clearly a lot to process.

In the video shared by @5umuka, Muka lies across her mom’s outstretched leg while her little nose works overtime. Her eyes keep darting around as the waves roll in, the wind moves past, and all those new beach smells arrive at once. She eventually decides that sitting on Mom’s thigh and belly might be the best way to take it all in.

Puppy’s first trip to the ocean is basically one big sensory overload

Muka has plenty to investigate, and she seems absolutely okay to take her time with all of it. Sand has already found its way onto her snout and head, while her back legs stay comfortably parked on the mat. Not a bad setup for a seven-week-old puppy.

Then Muka makes a couple of little hops before hauling herself up onto Mom’s thigh and belly. Once she gets there, she sits down and scratches her ears, apparently quite happy with her new spot.

Her owner explained that this first ocean trip was never meant to involve rushing Muka into the water or expecting her to love it immediately. They came to the beach simply to lie together and let her experience everything at her own pace.

That meant feeling the sand beneath her tiny paws, hearing the waves, noticing the wind, and stopping to sniff all those unfamiliar smells. And there is plenty of sniffing going on here. One commenter even called them, “Big sniffers.”

Muka got closer to the water, too. In another clip from the same beach visit, she walks into the ocean by herself before a wave gives her a little surprise. She seems to take the unexpected splash in stride and keeps exploring.

The video has drawn more than 2,000 likes, with viewers calling Muka beautiful and the moment “so sweet.” At seven weeks old, everything around her is still new. But she is happy to figure things out one tiny step at a time. And hopefully, those first little encounters will help the ocean become somewhere Muka genuinely loves going back to.
