A 9-year-old Great Pyrenees named Willow is now waiting for a new home after his previous owner surrendered him over concerns about aggressive behavior. The shelter received reports of problems involving an older daughter and other dogs, but volunteers say Willow has behaved very differently with them so far. Sasha, a North Texas shelter volunteer, shared his emotional story in a social media post to help him find a second chance.

The video shows Willow inside the shelter, where the senior Great Pyrenees calmly stands near a window and later looks toward the camera. The text overlay in the opening clip reads, “Surrendered to be euthanized.” According to the information provided at surrender, Willow’s former owner said he had displayed “nippy” or aggressive behavior toward an older daughter.

The owner also reportedly said Willow had shown aggression toward other dogs in the home. Because the shelter cannot independently verify what happened in his previous home, volunteers have been careful to distinguish those reports from what they have personally witnessed.

Since Willow arrived at the shelter, volunteers say he has calmly allowed them to approach, pet him, and interact with him. In the video, he stands near the staff and looks toward the camera. His calm behavior appears very different from the concerns reported when his owner surrendered him. One volunteer shared that a child recently petted Willow at the shelter, and he handled the interaction well. She also said she carried another dog close to Willow, but he did not react.

These moments do not show how Willow would behave in every situation or environment. However, they give the shelter team firsthand experiences that differ from some of the concerns his former owner reported. Willow previously lived in an apartment, according to the information shared by the volunteer. His current profile describes him as 9 years old and identifies him as Willow, shelter ID 61797611. Volunteers have also described him as sweet and friendly during their interactions with him.
