It is evident in the video that Maisy becomes alert when she senses someone approaching. She tries to concentrate on her hearing skills before using her sense of smell. Initially, the fur baby sits and figures out her surroundings. Then, she gets up and raises her face to smell. 

Furthermore, Maisy can be seen taking slow steps towards a familiar odor. Then her sneaky side appears as she quietly walks closer to the person. Once she confirms the target, the dog rushes for a sneak “attack.” Her antics leave the owner in stitches.
